Heavy Body Acrylic
This is a thick, high viscosity, pigment-rich professional acrylic colour, ideal for impasto and texture.
With a high concentration of lightfast artist-quality pigment and a satin finish, Heavy Body Acrylic gives you rich, permanent colour, with crisp brush strokes and knife marks.
HIGH VISCOSITY
Satisfyingly rich and smooth is our highest viscosity paint. With increased open-working time, good surface drag gives excellent handling and blending characteristics. Never too slippery, or too sticky. Heavy Body Acrylic delivers intense colour in the ideal consistency for a range of techniques.

COVERAGE
What coverage do you want? Liquitex paints come in three coverage options, dictated by the pigments they contain. You can choose an opaque red - like cadmium - which gives an intense shot of colour that you can't see through, a semi-opaque red or a transparent red which gives you a sheer wash of colour that allows the surface underneath to show through. Each option has its merits. Look for the opacity rating on the packaging of your colour - it's also listed on our colour charts.

Heavy Body Acrylic is known for its rich, permanent colour. Our chemists use the latest basket bead-mill technology to bring out the best in every pigment. Tiny reinforced ceramic beads give fine dispersion, great colour development, strength and brightness. Every colour is individually formulated to allow the unique character of each pigment to express itself whether its naturally opaque, semi-opaque or transparent. Highly flexible, durable, UV-resistant and water-resistant when dry.

What's the difference?
HEAVY BODY VS SOFT BODY
We're often asked this. If you thought Soft Body was just a watered down Heavy Body, youd be wrong. This flowing, low viscosity formula was actually created first. The two paints have compatible binders and pack the same high pigment load. But if you thin Heavy Body with water or medium, you reduce concentration and get noticeably weaker colors. Paint feel, performance and stability is also impacted, so choose the right consistency of paint for the task.
