The History of Uni-ball
In 1887 a man named Niroku Masaki started a small company making pencils in Tokyo. Almost 100 years later in 1979 the first uni-ball rollerball pen was created.
Its quality and writing performance made it an instant hit in Japan and America. Fast-forward another 15 years to 1994 and the eye rollerball that Uni-ball is now known for was created. Since then it's popularity has continued to grow, making it one of the UK's most popular rollerball pens.
One of the ideas from the uni-ball team in Tokyo is the Signo TSI erasable pen. It's heat sensitive ink turns transparent when you use one of its two erasers, allowing you to correct your mistakes.
Niroku's original 10 man Masaki Pencil Manufacturing Company was rebranded Uni Mitsubishi Pencil Company in 1952; it employs over 3500 people and it's uni-ball pens are sold in more than 100 countries around the world.
