Pebeo's Marbling is used according to a technique
inspired by marbling
on rice paper practiced in Japan in the 11th century (Suminagashi). It consists of transferring colours by simple contact
of the object to be decorated, on a coloured surface. This vat technique has been simplified
and modernised
to make it more accessible.

5 minutes on the reverse side of the fabric, with an iron in cotton position without steam
5 minutes at 150 °C in a domestic oven.
PREPARATION OF THE BATH
The thickener bath
should be prepared in advance.
Sprinkle 2 teaspoons, or 7g, of Marbling thickener into 1 litre of cold water while whisking briskly and leave for 2 hours. Then pour a 1-2 cm thick layer of gel into a flat plastic tray or bowl larger than the objects to be decorated.
MAKING THE MARBLING
Using the dropper, gently place the chosen Marbling colours on the surface of the bath. It is best to alternate light and dark colours, as they will overlap but never mix.
Allow the drops to spread for a few seconds before working them in with a stick. By orienting the colours in different ways, it is possible to obtain various patterns and marbling: pebbles, combed spots, etc. Simply place the drops of colour one inside the other to obtain concentric spots.
Once the marbling is done, gently place the fabric or paper to be decorated, cut to size, on the surface of the colour bath. Let it rest for 10 to 15 seconds before removing it. Rinse quickly under running water to remove the excess gel + colour mixture. Place the decorated surface on a flat surface and allow to dry.
