Description
INGRES paper was originally developed in the 17th century by the French neoclassical artist Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres. Although today's Ingres papers differ from those used by the artist, the laid mesh that characterises them remains intact.
The laid effect creates a fine grain of tight lines on one side and a marbled surface on the other. This paper is mainly used in the field of fine arts and in particular for the charcoal technique. It is particularly favoured in book and framing arts for its vintage appearance.
