Description
Since its foundation the Pentel Mission has been to design and produce innovative and quality writing and drawing products for everyday life.
Our story begins in Japan in 1946 when founder Yukio Horie took over a brush and ink distribution activity, thus founding "The Japan Stationery".
Convinced that only by educating the younger generations could Japan be lifted up from the post-war disaster, Mr. Horie began the production of school products such as pastels and temperas in the Soka factory.
The current name Pentel was born in 1951 and derives from the contraction of the words Pen Pastel, referring to a pastel with exceptional qualities of resistance to temperature changes that allowed to color with bright colors with the same ease of use as a pen.
Over the decades, the company has developed and new production facilities have been created first in Japan and later in America, Europe and Asia; cutting-edge plants not only in production processes and quality systems, but also in advance of the timing for the well-known anti-pollution issues.
