Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I use Bob Martin Clear Spot On?
Use 1 tube per cat, applied to the skin as directed. This product provides protection from fleas for 8 weeks and ticks for 4 weeks. The minimum interval between treatments is 4 weeks.
See the table below for weight restrictions. Do not use on puppies less than 2 months of age. Weigh the puppy first and ensure that the correct product is used for the weight of the puppy.
Is Bob Martin Spot On the same as Frontline?
We manufacture our own Spot On's, but use the same active ingredient as Frontline - Fipronil.
Both Bob Martin Spot On and Frontline are assessed and licensed by the Veterinary Medicines Directorate, the independent government executive agency, who are responsible for controlling how medicines for animals are made and distributed.
How does it work?
Fipronil affects the nervous system in the fleas & ticks. This results in uncontrolled activity of the central nervous system and eventually the death of fleas & ticks.
After contact with Fipronil, fleas will be killed within 24 hours and ticks will usually be killed within 48 hours
It isn't unusual for fleas & ticks to be more noticeable after applying the Spot On. This is because the insecticidal action of Fipronil results in them coming to the surface of your pets fur and dropping off.

What are fleas, and where can they be found?
Fleas are tiny insects that may be carriers of many different types of bacteria and viral diseases. They are known to transmit tapeworms. Fleas can live up to 2-3 months, and reproduce very quickly!
Only 5% of fleas actually live on you pet, the other 95% may be lurking around your home or garden. It's important to use Bob Martin Clear Spot On regularly to minimise the chances of an infestation in your household or on your pets.
What are ticks, and where can they be found?
Ticks are small, blood-sucking creatures related to spiders, mites and scorpions. Ticks will feed on your pets blood and engorge over a period of days.
They cannot jump or fly, but when ready for a meal will climb a nearby piece of vegetation and wait for a passing animal or human to catch their hooked front legs.
If undisturbed, a tick will feed for around 5 to 7 days before letting go and dropping off.

95% of fleas are living in your home. Therefore to ensure your home is clear, we recommend you treat your home with one of our effective home treatments.
Regular treatment of all cats and dogs in the home together with regular vacuuming of your pet's bedding areas is required to protect your pet and home from fleas and ticks. Don't forget your car!
