Axus Decor's Australian Merino roller is superior to similar-looking sheepskin rollers, and that's because merino is one of the softest and most absorbent types of wool in the world. The natural absorbency of the wool means that it will pick up a tremendous amount of paint; a single load will cover a large surface area. Compared to standard DIY rollers, this professional one has a larger diameter of 44mm, which means it holds 30% more paint. Importantly, the paint disperses evenly as you roll, giving you even coverage rather than thick and thin areas. Very little paint spatters back onto you. The natural softness of merino fibres minimises texture (also known as orange peel), giving the surface you're painting a flat overall appearance. The finish is so smooth that this roller is also suitable for back-rolling. In this process, you use the roller unloaded to even out a coating that has been sprayed on. This roller has a medium (10mm) pile, ideal for painting smooth and slightly uneven walls and ceilings inside and outside. Use it with water-based emulsions and masonry paints. Merino fibres also benefit from being resilient to most paints and maintaining their shape after use, making this roller highly reusable. Properly cared for, it will last several years, making it an excellent investment for future DIY and professional projects. To maintain its performance, always wash it out after each use and leave it standing upright to dry. Never leave it immersed in paint or water for long periods. Use this roller with an Axus Decor S-Frame, Pro-Frame or another roller frame suitable for 44mm-core rollers.
