Instructions:
Please follow these instructions carefully and read them thoroughly:
I. Setting up the pattern
- Place a flat piece of cardboard or cardstock on a table or floor and use a pencil to draw out a straight line for the pattern.
- Cut the line along the pattern and place the cut line on your right side.
- Create another pattern on a second piece of cardboard or cardstock, but this one should be cut in a diagonal line towards your left hand side.
- Place the second piece of pattern on top of the first piece of pattern, aligning them accurately with each other.
- Turn your attention to the edge of the first pattern, and adjust it so that the two pieces are together by 6 cm or less.
- Once both pieces are adjusted, pin the first pattern onto the second pattern with a small amount of pressure on each pin.
- Starting from your rightmost side of the pattern, take your scissors and cut two stitches along the edge of the pattern on either side of your pin, approximately 1 cm away from your pin.
- Repeat steps 4 and 5 on either side of the pattern.
- Once the entire edge of the pattern is cut, begin weaving in the loose stitches in rows and working towards your right side of the pattern.
- Working on either side of the pattern, begin creating a column by making diagonal stitches that go across your pin towards the center of the pattern.
- Once you have completed a diagonal row on one side, weave in your loose stitches, working back towards your right side of the pattern.
- Repeat this process on the opposite side of the pattern and work diagonally to complete each column on the right side.
- Continue weaving diagonally on both sides of the pattern until the top right side is complete and your work has reached your left side.
- Work back towards your right side of the pattern by creating diagonal stitches on your pin that go across the width of your work, and work your way towards the right corner.
- Once you reach the left corner, create diagonal stitches towards your work that go across your right corner.
- You will have a triangle of stitches that form a right angle on your work, with one column on either side and the top corners complete.
- Create a small stitch in each corner and work towards your work until all three corners are complete.
- Now, you have two right angles on either side of your work. Weave your stitches back towards your center of your work, making diagonal stitches that go across your left corner and back towards your work.
- You can work towards your left side by creating diagonal stitches that go across your work and towards your left corner, and work diagonally on your left corner until your work is complete.
