MAKE Internationals mission
MAKE International is passionate about searching for fresh designers to collaborate with to bring its customers the variety of distinctive products and designs that they are looking for. MAKE looks to create items that are practical, high-quality, stylish and, above all, make peoples lives better.
MAKE Internationals history
MAKE was established twelve years ago in 2005 by Director Dominic Speelman and joined forces with renowned ceramicist Keith Brymer Jones in 2008. Together the two have expanded the internationally successful Keith Brymer Jones ranges, in addition to growing MAKEs brand portfolio to include Harlequins fresh brand Scion and upcoming designers Jane Foster and Becky Baur. There are many more exciting partnerships with contemporary design brands on the horizon too, including Layla Faye, Hokolo and Designers Guild. MAKE International manufacture products for all of the designers they work with.
As Head of Design, Keith Brymer Jones personally collaborates with every designer that MAKE works with to create unique products that represent the style and story behind each brand perfectly. Keiths experience stretches back over twenty years, having started as an apprentice at Harefield Pottery aged 18 before hand-making ceramics from his London studio for retailers including Conran, Heals, Habitat, Marks and Spencers, Ted Baker, Laura Ashley, Monsoon, Bergdorf Goodman, Barneys New York and Anthropology.
Keith continues to throw every shape in all of the ceramic ranges produced by MAKE on his potters wheel at his studio, a converted bakery in Whitstable, Kent. He then works with MAKEs expert product supervisors in China to sample the products on the factory floor to match the same high specifications as the pieces made at home in his studio. Quality is precedent and for this reason every item is checked at least three times once it is made in order to meet extremely high standards.
MAKE International has distributors in Australia, Norway, The Faroe Islands, Iceland, Finland, Belgium, New Zealand, Denmark, Sweden, the US, Canada and the Netherlands and agents in Germany. MAKE is extremely proud of all the staff, designers, factories and distributors that they work with.
How are the products made?
Keith continues to throw every shape in all of the ceramic ranges produced by MAKE on his potters wheel at his studio, which is in a converted bakery in Whitstable, Kent. He then works with MAKEs expert product supervisors in China to sample the products on the factory floor to match the same high specifications as the pieces made at home in his studio. Similarly all of our non-ceramic product ranges, such as glass, textiles and haberdashery are designed by Keith in collaboration with each ranges designer to ensure that they are both unique and high quality.

Scion Living
is an upbeat British brand known for its zesty colours, friendly characters and clean Scandi-inspired designs featuring Scion Mr Fox, Lintu, Spike hedgehog, Barney Owl & Colin Crane. Their designs are available right here at MAKE International on the Scion range of tableware including mugs, espresso cups, bowls, egg cups, placemats, glassware, coasters and more.
Scion
burst onto the scene back in 2012 as the newest member of the Harlequin family. The word Scion has two meanings, a young shoot or twig and a descendent from a notable family, so its the perfect name for the brand!
The Scion designers
work in their large studio in Leicestershire. Their delightful designs are firstly placed on fabric and wallpaper before being later partnered with specialist manufacturers under licence. MAKE International owns the license for Scion ceramics, glassware and tableware and produces Scion mugs, egg cups, espresso cups, glasses, placemats and coasters. Mr Fox and friends can also be found on things like bed linen, rugs, towels, bathroom accessories and much more under other licenses. Scion is proud to be very British.
Scion Living
was conceived to fill a gap in the market for unique, vibrant and reasonably priced home products. The brand really kicked off when one of the Scion designers drew a little orange fox Mr Fox was created and rapidly became Scions most iconic design. Followed later by the arrival of Spike the hedgehog, the distinctive style of Scion Living aims to provide fresh ideas for modern living. Now with many more patterns and new characters, Scion living continues to expand.
