This updated model features a new Sony IMX219 CCD, which provides 8-megapixel resolution and allows you to see in low-light conditions with greater clarity than its predecessor. The module can be connected to your Raspberry Pi board through a short ribbon cable (supplied), and it can be used with the latest version of Raspbian Operating System. Support for the V2 model is included in all models of Raspberry Pi 1, 2 and 3, but be sure to update your Raspbian operating system if necessary if your version is not up-to-date. This camera can capture still images at up to 3280 px by 2464 px, as well as high-definition video in 1080p at 30 frames per second, 720p at 60 frames per second and 640 by 480p at 90 frames per second, providing smooth video recording for various applications such as surveillance or time-lapse recordings. It also has a fixed-focus lens on-board and comes with a small tripod mount, allowing you to mount the camera module to tripods for more stability in video recording or for stability during regular camera usage. Raspberry Pi cameras also offer various other features such as HDR mode for increased color depth and low-light photography modes. Additionally, this camera can be accessed through Raspberry Pi's preferred API, MMAL API, or V4L API for programming convenience. Just plug the camera module into your Raspberry Pi board's GPIO header, connect a power source through a Micro USB port and you're good to go.
