Printing Tips and Settings
Silk PLA printing settings are similar to PLA so in general, is a very easy and forgiving material. However, we need to take into count that Silk PLA is weaker, so we should take this into count when slicing our models. We can increase the shells and the infill of our parts to make them stronger. We need to be careful when removing the parts from the build surface, to avoid breaking the model. Silk PLA sticks very well to the surface, so dont use any adhesion helper such as glue or hairspray

Polylactic acid with additives to make it shiny
Silk PLA is a commercial name given to PLA blends that are formulated to be very shiny making it a great choice to print decorative and display models. 3D printed parts will have a mesmerizing shine that looks metallic or pearlescent. Being PLA-based, Silk PLA keeps most of the advantages of PLA: compatibility, ease to print, no warping, safe and odorless, etc. However, in terms of mechanical performance Silk PLA is weaker than PLA making it not suitable for all applications.

1- High Quality Pure Pellets
A great filament begins with great plastic pellets. Our company only sources pure virgin plastic pellets from trusted suppliers. Our filaments are produced according to tested formulas that ensure optimal usability and performance.
2- Thorough Pellet Drying Process
Before the filament is produced we completely remove the moisture from the raw material using industrial pellet drying equipment. The dry raw material will ensure high printing quality.
3- High Quality and Safe Pigments
The pellets are mixed with dying pigments to give the filament the desired color. The dosage and mixing process is done automatically to ensure consistent color. The pigments are selected according to safety standards and to maintain vivid colors after being printed.
4- Precision Extrusion and Cooling
The pellets are extruded into a filament in one of our state-of-the-art extrusion lines. All the parameters are controlled and adjusted automatically in real-time to ensure the highest consistency. The filament goes through a series of cooling baths that give it the desired properties.
5- Strict Diameter Control
Each centimeter of filament is measured by a 2-axis laser measurement system that controls the diameter and roundness. This ensures that our spools are always within +/- 0.03 mm tolerance so the printing quality and reliability are optimal.
6- Automatic Winding System
The filament is winded in the spools by an automatic machine. The machine coils the filament evenly and neatly making impossible the apparition of knots or other unexpected artifacts that can affect the printability.
7- Optimal Vacuum Packing and Boxing
Immediately after being coiled, the spools are vacuum packed in a preservation bag. Each bag contains some desiccant agent to better protect the spool in case the bag is punctured during transport or shipping. The product is boxed in a sturdy box to protect it from light and dust.
