- • VERSATILE AND EASY TO USE: Apply chosen compound on one or both sides of leather. Mostly customers use White compound on the rough side and Green compound on the smooth side. But you might prefer coarser or finer grit. You can also leave smooth side free of the compound for really ultra-fine touch-ups. Always strop after finishing sharpening on your finest stone by pulling blade backwards with low pressure. It is important to keep the same (or a little bit shallower) angle you sharpen at.

Leather honing strop is an accessory that allows you to polish the blade accurately after sharpening
. The handcrafted belt made of vegetable tanned, cowhide juniper leather 3 mm thick
has been placed on a hard and durable beechwood board.
We use only 100% wood from a well-managed forest, as confirmed by the FSC certificate.
The strop, together with a set of four polishing pastes and balm with beewax
, forms a practical set dedicated to the final stage of the sharpening process.
Paddle strop allows precise polishing of the cutting edge
as well as maximum razor sharpness
. The use of polishing paste enhances the polishing effect, giving the blade a mirror-like smoothness and high gloss, and prevents discoloration and rust.
By polishing the blade we remove any scratches and burrs caused by sharpening.
How to use Bacher premium leather polishing strop?
Apply honing compound
Apply the chosen paste on one or both sides of the leather. White paste is most commonly used for the rough side and green for the smooth side, but the choice depends on your individual preferences. You can also use the smooth side without paste.
Polish one side of the blade
Make a few movements by moving the blade as shown in the picture below, maintaining the correct angle of inclination.
Change side of the blade
Repeat the same steps on the other side of the blade.
Tips:
To soften the consistency of the paste, you can place it in containers of hot water. When the paste has a temperature of 50\xb0C it is very easy to apply. You can also use a hairdryer.
Tips:
For optimal polishing, a very small amount of sharpening paste is needed. Apply about 1g per side and let the leather do its work.
Tips:
If you feel that the strop is not working well, you can apply a little paste. This is usually needed every 30-50 uses. You can completely replace the paste on a leather strop by sanding it down to the leather itself. Usually needed every 300-500 uses.
Tips:
Never mix two pastes. Clean the leather of the paste before switching to a finer grain. If you prefer very soft leather or if you are completely replacing the paste, you can use softening lotion. It is usually a good idea to use it every 1-2 years.

The most common application is white paste on the rough side of the leather and green paste on the smooth side. However, the choice depends on your individual preferences. It is best to try different options, in order to find out which one fits your needs.
