Most people want to give their dogs occasional treats, either to boost their health, help with training or just as a tasty snack! Dogs often need treats to help them maintain a balanced diet, but it can be hard to find treats that are healthy, natural and free from unnecessary added preservatives.
At Maltby's Stores we have worked hard to source a range of natural dog treats. Mostly comprised of natural by-products from the meat, fish and poultry industries, these are not only a healthier option to processed dog treats but are also great if you are looking for a more sustainable alternative.
Why it's Important to Choose Natural Treats for Your Dog
A Balanced Diet
Natural treats are great for providing a balanced diet for your dog. They are generally higher in protein and fibre and lower in fat than processed dog treats. They can also help aid in digestion, as they are free from additives and filler content that can be fattening for dogs. Rawhide Treats for Dogs
Made from the inner layer of cow hide, rawhide chews have long been considered a great and long-lasting treat for dogs who go through other chews too quickly. The hides are cleaned and cut, then pressed and rolled into various shapes and sizes. Our available rawhide chews are:
5" pressed cigars
10" pressed cigars
4-6mm twists
9-10mm twists
Pizzle/Tripe filled bones (these are pressed rawhide bones with a pizzle or a piece of tripe running through their middle)
As with all natural chew products, particularly harder chews such as bones or hide, there is a minimal risk of choking or blockage with rawhide chews. Always supervise your dog when giving them rawhide treats and never leave them unattended. Ensure fresh water is available. Larger sizes of rawhide chews may not be suitable for smaller dogs.
The risks associated with rawhide chews are small but can cause severe damage or even death if left unattended. If you have any concerns always consult your vet before giving treats to your dog.
