First, Design Layout
Step1: Determin your lighting application:
Ambient Lighting to illuminate entire room. Accent Lighting to highlight a specific item or wall. Task Lighting to reduce eye strain when you working under it.
Step2: Calculate how many lights you will need. Use below guidelines when planning your lighting layout:
Average a minimum of 1 light for every 25 square feet of living space. Have the light spaced about half of the distance from the surface you want to illuminated to your ceiling.
For accent lighting, place the recessed spot light between 1.5ft and 3ft from the wall.
Second, Turn Off Power and Drill Holes
Check the dimensions:
Hole cut out: 60-75mm
Ceiling thickness: 20-25mm
Ceiling depth: 50mm min.
Third, Prepare the Cable and Wiring
Important Tips:
This spot light does not come with any cable. Please prepare the wiring cable by yourselves. Just using normal 0.75-1.0mm2 twin cable, Live and Neutral. This light is classⅡ level double insulated, no earth required.
For new building, just route the wires over your ceiling.
For retrofiting, if there is a transformer, cut it and use the existing cable for wiring.
Insert the wire cables into the terminal blocks and secure the cable firmly by tightening the screws over the blocks. In multiple lights installation, use 2 pair cables and daisy chain them in parallel. Maximum 8 units linked together.
Forth, Fit the Lights in Ceiling
Important Tips:
Before push the lights into holes, you should check if the wiring job is done perfectly, in case you need pull the lights out and re-wiring. You could leave the spot light at the half way of the hole, turn on the power to check if everything is ok.
If the lights need be replaced, just grab the trim and pull out.It's easy and effortless.
When installed in a loft, leave a gap between light and insulation or use a loftcaps, good for heat dissipation and longer lifespan.
