There are 3 particular moth types: Common Webbing Moth (Tineola Bisselliella), also known as the Clothes Moth
, Case-Bearing Moth (Tinea Pellionella), also known as Carpet Moth
, and the Pale-Backed Moth (Monopis Crocicapitella)
, which can do critical damage to the clothes, carpets, furniture, rugs and other fabrics. Usually, they make their nests in wardrobes, shade carpet corners, behind curtains or under the furniture, but they may also create colonies in the loft insulation! MothOut Clothes moth traps

We can also be infested by a moth called Indian Meal Moth (Plodia Interpunctella).
This moth is targeting our pantry, but often it is mistakenly identified as a clothes moth due to its nest-locating preferences. Indian meal moth nests can be found in nuts, pet food, bird seeds, rice, cereals, but also in wardrobes, and other areas, away from the kitchen. This fact can successfully confuse the households and prevent correct moths identification. The included Pantry moth traps
will capture Indian Meal Moths and break their life cycle to eliminate the whole population. Due to the pheromone similarity, pantry moth traps may also attract 4 other, less common moth species, such as Tobacco Moth (Ephestia Elutella), Almond Moth (Cadra Cautella), Flour Moth (Ephestia Kuehniella)
but the success in capturing these moths will vary and therefore can't be guaranteed.
Moths can settle in nicely inside our house and grow their population without even being noticed for a long time until we start seeing the damage caused by them.
Along with the awakening spring and upcoming higher temperatures, we can all observe more insects becoming active in our gardens, around the flowers, or in our kitchen. Although the majority of these little creatures have their special destination in nature, we dont always want their cleaning service inside our houses. Fruit flies and Fungus gnats

When fighting clothes moths, empty your closet and examine all your clothes. check your carpets., look for holes, small white colour eggs, larvae, or webbing. Clean your wardrobe using a vacuum cleaner, and wipe shelves, hangers, rails etc. with cloth and the vinegar-water mix before putting clothes back. Hoover all carpets thoroughly and dispose of a dust bag outside the house.
When fighting pantry moths clean your cupboards and drawers with vinegar-water mix, clean food containers, and place your food in airtight packaging ideally glass or plastic containers.
Moth-preventing tips:
Did you know that moths hate the smell of herbs? Introduce dried lavender to your wardrobe, it has a beautiful fragrance, but moths won`t like it. Grow lavender in pots by doorways and windows where moths may be entering the house. It will create a natural shield against moths. To repel moths from your kitchen use cloves or bay leaves.
Another great thing to use by windows is a moth trap with an additional luminescent attractant. To understand why we added glowing lures to our pack, you need to know about phototaxis. Phototaxis is an organism`s automatic movement towards or away from light. Moths are positively phototactic and will be attracted to the luminescent trap in the dark.
Moths hate being disturbed. Take out items hanging up inside your wardrobe and shake them at least once a month.
To speed up the eggs and larvae elimination process, we recommend washing clothes at a temperature above 55°C. Or deep-freezing fragile fabrics. Seal items in a plastic freezer bag at -18°C for at least two weeks.
Buying items from a second-hand clothing store can transport the larvae into your home. Always wash new clothes before storing them.
After using your vacuum cleaner, always empty the contents into a black plastic bag. Seal it up and dispose of it in an outside bin.
Wipe all newly purchased food bags and cans shops and warehouses are the perfect places for the moths!
Raising the temperature at home will make moths more active and force males to search for females to reproduce. Higher temperatures will speed up the trapping process.
