The Production Process
200 plus years of manufacturing experience has enabled us to get quite good at the manufacturing process. This doesn't mean we let robots mass produce rubbish, we still firmly believe in a hands on approach, after all clay is a natural product and each piece is unique. To make each jar including the lid there are seventeen stages and in every stage the pot is handled, this gives our craftsmen a chance to inspect at every opportunity ensuring poor quality is put back into the manufacturing process reducing waste.

A Family Tradition You Can Trust
Henry Watson 1848 - 1929 (3rd Generation)
In 1876 Henry amended the company name to Henry and Joseph Watson, Joseph being Henry's older brother. Together they developed the retail and wholesale outlets. In 1896 the company was registered as '' Earthenware, terracotta rustic ware, china and glass merchants. The company only became Henry Watson's Potteries Ltd in 1942.
Hand Crafted Quality
All of our ceramic lids are individually turned by hand. This isn't the fasted method to make lids but it ensures the best quality and allows us to create the perfect knob. This means that we can have an excellent airtight seal because the lids are easy to grasp and remove.
Behind The Brand
Launched in the late 1980's this collection has grown significantly and still remains a firm favourite, a true testament to the design. All of the Shapes are designed by the Queensberry Hunt Partnership and remain popular as they're functional and built to last. The rich terracotta colour is truly unique and we pride ourselves on the quality of our smooth clay body. Terracotta is often classified as a fragile clay body, whilst this characteristic is true of Mediterranean terracotta the terracotta which we source from Stoke on Trent is really a cut above and durable enough for every day use.
