The Story of OMGTea
In 2010, after watching my mother fight the life-threatening disease she was diagnosed with, I realised that the most important thing in life is family, friends and health so I decided that I wanted to do something positive to help and became involved in supporting the ground breaking research of one of the World’s most renowned cell biologists, which amongst other things, highlighted the potential benefits of antioxidants in our diets. Green tea is know to have an abundance of antioxidants so I wanted my mum to drink the tea with the highest levels and Matcha Green Tea was that tea. We started drinking it together and I felt so passionate about it that I founded OMGTea.
What Is Matcha?
Quality matcha is not just another type of green tea, it is the champagne of green tea. Matcha comes from the same plant as all tea, Camelia Sinesis but the way it is cultivated and processed is what makes Matcha so special. Real Matcha comes from Japan and is made from the finest shade grown leaves stone-ground to a fine powder.

The potential anti-ageing health benefits of Matcha green tea are so wide ranging that it’s difficult to know where to begin. Some of these health benefits are also backed up by scientific and medical research; research that has only just started to scratch the surface of this wonder drink. How Is It Produced?
Unlike other green teas, Matcha cultivation involves shading the plants with bamboo three to four weeks before harvesting. This process boosts the nutrient levels of Matcha to extraordinary levels. It is harvested by hand with only the finest leaves used. It is then ground using a traditional granite stone mill, a process that takes more than an hour to grind just 30 grams.
