Paint stirrer - simple, effective... essential
A paint stirrer is a simple but invaluable tool and it's always a good idea to stir paint before applying it to ensure that the colour and consistency are completely uniform for a top notch finish. If a layer of liquid has separated out in the tin this usually isn't a problem and a thorough stir will mix it back in. More sophisticated than a simple stick, this stirrer has a pattern of holes that give optimum mixing by forming a network of mini-vortexes. It is suitable for low to medium viscosity paints such as emulsions (eg. matt, silk, eggshell), gloss, satin, woodstains and varnishes.
Handy hint:
don't stir too vigorously as you risk aerating the paint, leading to bubbles appearing in the film. They'll usually pop if the paint contains a good anti-foam, but it's best not to introduce air in the first place.
